Frequently asked questions

General questions

Prompt is designed for students aged 12-16 studying under the British curriculum (KS3, Common Entrance, GCSE and iGCSE) and their parents or guardians.

It’s a learning app that helps pupils remember the facts they need for better exam performance, while building healthier screen habits.

Prompt interrupts phone use with quick quiz questions on subjects you choose (GCSE or KS3). Using spaced repetition, it helps knowledge stick in long-term memory – much more effectively than last-minute cramming.

It also provides gentle nudges to take breaks from scrolling, supporting healthier digital habits.

Most revision apps require active motivation – students need to open them and choose to study. Prompt works differently: it comes to them during existing phone use, building recall through small, repeated moments throughout the day.

It’s integrated into their routine, not an extra task to remember.

How it works

Prompt interrupts during recreational app use. The frequency adapts to each student’s usage patterns, ensuring meaningful learning moments without being overly intrusive.

We currently offer the following subjects:

GCSE (ages 14–16): Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Geography, English Literature, French, Spanish, Latin

KS3/Common Entrance (ages 12–14): Science, History, Geography, French, Spanish

We’re continuously expanding our curriculum. More subjects coming soon.

Yes! Parents and teens choose subjects together. We recommend discussing which topics your teen finds challenging – they’ll know their weak spots, and Prompt can help strengthen them. Teachers can also provide guidance on areas to focus on.

All questions are prepared by qualified teachers and tutors. Content covers key factual material required for GCSEs and iGCSEs across all major examination boards (AQA, OCR, Pearson Edexcel, WJEC Eduqas).

Prompt reveals the correct answer immediately. Your teen has a brief moment to think about it before returning to their app. This reflection helps cement learning – and provides incentive to get it right next time!

Questions answered incorrectly appear again later using spaced repetition, ensuring knowledge eventually sticks.

Spaced repetition is a proven learning technique where information is reviewed at increasing intervals over time. It’s significantly more effective than cramming – studies show 10-15% better long-term recall.

The brain receives information repeatedly over a longer period, so it’s more likely to stay put.

Setup and technical

No! Installation takes about 2-3 minutes. You’ll need:

  • Your iPhone and Apple ID
  • Your teen’s device (unlocked)
  • A few minutes to follow the setup process

No. Once installed, only a parent or guardian can remove it.

As a parent, you choose which recreational apps to include. Prompt doesn’t interrupt essential apps like the phone – only the apps you select.

Privacy and monitoring

Yes! The parent dashboard shows:

No. Prompt doesn’t block apps or limit screentime. It transforms existing screentime into learning opportunities and provides gentle nudges for healthier break habits.

Results and effectiveness

Maybe. Possibly at first. But we believe the interruptions are small while the results are significant.

As teens gain knowledge and see themselves improving at school, many begin to appreciate the value. Even if they don’t thank you for it, they’ll be pleased when they’re sailing through their exams!

Yes! You can add any number of teens to your Prompt account, each with their own subjects and progress tracking.

We can’t guarantee specific grades because (as any good teacher will explain) students need both knowledge and application skills for top marks.

But we can guarantee your teen will learn more with Prompt. You’ll see the stats on your dashboard. And if they know the Prompt material, they’re well on their way to exam success.
